Back in September I did a post here that made mention of a project I was working on with the phenomenally talented Rachel Arnold Sager and her spectacular and also wildly talented husband, one Mr Josh Sager. Well, after many months of fiddling on my part and very hard work on their part, its time to make the big announcement.

Monster Haiku! Its a save the date at the moment, but on February first the store opens and you will be able to pre-order the book. 100% of the profits made from the sale of these Monster Haiku items will be donated to March of Dimes to help care for premature babies. There will be a limited run of books, posters and cards for your pre-ording pleasure.

I want to take a second to sincerely thank Josh and Rachel. This book is part of a dream I've held for a very long time. So, sincerely, thank you, both of you.

It’s cold here, but there's no snow. I've though many times today aboutthat. I remember when it snowed on Christmas. Not just a dusting either, I meanlegitimate, wear boots and trudge to Grandmas, snow. But it’s not snow thatmakes Christmas for me. Its family. I’ve spent this Christmas Eve as I’ve spentalmost every Christmas Eve, with my family. Nothing is more important to me. Isee them less and less lately, which is both sad and inevitable, I suppose. Asure sign I'm growing up.

In the background is the buzzingof cars with expensive engines and men with lovely accents. More often than notI have some kind of television on in the background so I don't get too mired inmy own thoughts at bedtime. It is also increasingly something British. At themoment? Top Gear. The point of all this is that it has me thinking about whatChristmas is for others. The feelings nestled in my heart tonight are sharedwith so many across the world. Not just for Christmas, but for all differentholidays. Anticipation, relaxation, love, joy and a strong aroma ofnostalgia. The perfect winter blend.

I hope more than anything that Christmasis a time of joy for you, whomever you might be reading this. If it’s not, I justhope that you can find some peace and a reason to smile.

I'm going home. Wait no, that's not quite right. I'm not going home. I guess you could consider this the complete opposite of home. I wasn't born here. This where I died.

It was so long ago now. I'm not sure, 20 years? maybe 30? Time hasn't had too much meaning for me for quite a while. I haven't been back here for a while, but I think its finally time. I need to reflect, to remind myself of what it is I'm fighting for.

The sun is settling down in the horizon as I finally lay eyes on the place where I fell. It wasn't exactly a pretty death. Better than some, to be sure, but not great either. In flashes it comes back to me. A punch colliding with my cheek, shaking off the pain and lunging at my opponent. Rage and adrenalin making me sloppy. Feeling both powerful and weak at the same time. It all started quite well for me, to be fair. but he was tougher than I expected. I got sloppy, I got reckless and it cost me. Cost me everything. In those final moments, when the pain is so intense and the strength is slipping from my arms. when I couldn't defend myself anymore against the rain of fists. When the damage became too much and I started to slip away. A thousand thoughts. Will he stop? Will I wake up later? Will I ever wake up at all? Fear. Pain. Apprehension. A brief flash of rage at the whole situation. This is it. This is the end of my story. Resignation. Darkness.

And then.... then....

Everything.

Whats up hot dogs? Dj Lunchbox/Will here, with a little update on why I decided to post a blog a day for a while.

Lets start with Rachel Arnold Sager. Are you familiar with her? You should be. Go get acquainted.

Did you notice how shes fantastic? She is. We worked on a project a while back in which I wrote a haiku for each of her 52 illustrations. It was well received and Miss Sager saw a great opportunity. As a result, there will be a forthcoming book, tentatively titled Monster Haiku. IT WILL BE a paste and page version of our collaboration but with so much more. I cant get into the details, but suffice it to say, it will be tremendous.

"BUT WHY ARE YOU POSTING EVERY DAY?"

Thank you for keeping me on point, but there is no need to yell. A few days back, I got a crazy idea. I have a book coming out, so I should be a writer. Usually, that revelation comes the other way round, but Ive never been one to take the usual path. As a result, I decided to do something daunting. A blog post a day, not just for a month, but until the book is released. Why is this daunting? Because there is no release date. Not yet, anyway. You, as the consumer, are the lucky beneficiary of all this excitement.One way or the other, there will be much blogging going on IN THIS SPACE.
